OG image checker
Paste a link to see the image, title and description it shows on X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack and in messages, and what to fix.
Open Graph checker and link preview test
The OG image checker loads your page as the server sends it, reads the Open Graph and X card tags in its head and fetches the share image, then draws the link previews of X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack, iMessage and WhatsApp from what it found. It flags what stops a good preview, such as a missing og:image, an image under 600x315 or over 5 MB, a relative image address or a missing twitter:card, and gives a short fix for each one. When the tags are right but the picture is not, Make a better one opens OG Image Lab with your title, description, icon and colors in place.
What the checker looks at
The share image
Whether og:image (or twitter:image) is set, is a full https address, loads, and is really an image file. Size, shape and weight are read from the file itself: under 600x315, under 1200x630, not 1.91:1, over 5 MB and over 8 MB are flagged.
Formats apps show
PNG, JPG, WebP and GIF appear in link previews. A share image in SVG, AVIF, ICO or HEIC is flagged, because most apps do not show those formats.
Title and description
og:title and og:description, or the page title and meta description when they are missing. Titles over 70 characters and descriptions over 200 are flagged, since previews cut them short.
