Riso Duo: a two-ink small press poster in blue and fluorescent pink
Riso Duo imitates a two-drum risograph run on cream stock. The Riso finish fills a seven-lobed spirograph with a flat fluorescent pink lace from the Accent, then prints the blue Ink hairlines over it slightly out of register and dusts the sheet with paper grain. In the left column of the Split layout, Small Press stacks in bold blue grotesk, and Fair, wrapped in asterisks in the Headline, changes to a pink serif italic.
Make it yours
Load two other drums
Risograph inks come as fixed drum colors, so treat Ink and Accent as a pair of drums. Teal with yellow, or red with a deep blue, keeps the overlap believable, while two dark colors multiply into mud.
Pick the word that changes voice
Put asterisks around one word of the Headline, as in Small Press *Fair*, and it is set in serif italic in the Accent color. One switched word reads as intent; three of them start to look like an accident.
FAQ
What does the Riso finish change compared with Clean?
Clean draws every strand in tones of Ink, plus one lead line in the Accent. Riso prints the curve twice instead: a flat lace in the Accent, then the Ink hairlines 1.6 pixels off register, multiplied where they overlap and grained like stencil-printed paper.
