Modern Gothic: a burgundy serif masthead over a nine-pointed star
Modern Gothic dresses a candlelit concert series in burgundy on bone. The Cover layout sets Nocturne as a high-contrast serif masthead, and beneath it a superformula star with nine needle-thin arms rises from the foot of the sheet, drawn in 56 burgundy hairlines with a single lilac strand on the outside. Coupling at 94, close to the maximum, is what pinches the arms into those sharp gothic spikes.
Make it yours
Count the spikes
Symmetry sets how many points the star has, 9 on this cover. Odd counts never settle on a horizontal, which keeps the shape restless; try 7 for a heraldic star or 12 for something closer to a sunburst.
Carve a spiral into the arms
Warp at 8 turns each inner copy a few degrees, so the arms look carved with a slight spiral. Raise Warp to 40 for a wavering, flame-like star, or set it to 0 to stack the copies as nearly concentric outlines.
FAQ
Can I set the dates and venue for a concert series on this cover?
Yes. The Eyebrow names the series in small mono capitals at the top left, the Body holds a programme note of two or three lines under the masthead, and the Footer runs the dates along the bottom edge. The edition number and barcode update as you type.
