Soft Cells: blurred pink and yellow orbs glowing on dark plum
Soft Cells is the only family in the set that blurs its shapes. It scatters 28 circles of very different sizes, orchid pink for most and butter yellow for one in three, then runs them through a heavy blur so edges melt into each other on a dark plum ground. Depth at 78 sets that blur strong, Shape scale at 120 enlarges the field, and Grain at 8 adds a film-like texture on top of the glow.
Make it yours
Bring the cells into focus
Blur strength is tied to Depth. At 78 the circles are clouds; lower Depth to 10 or so and they become soft-edged discs you can count, closer to bokeh than to fog.
Slow the breathing
The cells sway and swell as they animate. Speed is 16 by default; try 6 to 8 for a slow, lava-lamp pace behind a Welcome or Signup screen, or 0 when you need a still.
FAQ
Is text readable on top of Soft Cells?
Light text generally is, because the background is a dark plum and the blurred shapes have no hard edges to compete with letterforms. The risk is a bright yellow cell landing under your headline. Step through Variation to move the cells, or lower Element count from 14 so fewer bright patches appear.
