Infrared tide: fine sunset-spectrum ripples on dark maroon
Infrared tide takes the Ripple field in the opposite direction from Oil film. Shape scale goes up to 140 so only a few big rings cross the frame, and Spread comes down to 24 so each one is a narrow line with darkness between. Those lines carry the sunset spectrum at a Glow of 70 over a maroon-plum backdrop, and Complexity at 9 splits them into finer strands, which gives the whole thing the look of heat mapped by a sensor.
Make it yours
Push or bank the heat
Glow is 70 in this preset. Taking it to 90 or above makes the ring crests flare toward white-hot, while dropping it near 40 leaves dim embers; both are usable, but they tell different stories.
Cool it into sonar
Swap Spectrum from sunset to ice and change Light color to a deep navy. The thin rings at Spread 24 immediately read as sonar or radar instead of heat, with no other changes needed.
FAQ
Can I use my own colors with Infrared tide?
Yes. The preset runs on the built-in sunset spectrum, so Ink and Accent are not in play yet. Set Spectrum to Custom and the rings blend between those two colors instead, which start as the tool's default violet and pink. A hot red Ink with an amber Accent stays in thermal territory, and keeping the maroon Light color means the heat still feels contained.
