Mercury aperture: a liquid chrome ring framing a central opening
Mercury aperture uses the Annulus sculpture, so the metal gathers into a rounded, almost square ring around a central opening with a small four-petal pinch at its heart, like a lens iris seen up close. Steel blue #4e839b and copper tan #b28a70 swap places around the ring, and nested rims at the frame edges echo the shape. Fold frequency 2 and Fine ripples 18 keep the surface clean, a good 3D chrome frame for a centered logo or product shot.
Make it yours
Open or close the aperture
Subject scale is 100. Raise it to 130 and the ring grows past the frame edges for a close-up crop, or lower it to 70 to fit more of the nested rings into the frame.
Turn it into pure mercury
For a quicksilver version, set First color and Second color to two close greys and keep Polish at 88. The ring loses its copper warmth and reads as one pool of liquid silver.
FAQ
Can I place a logo inside the Mercury aperture ring?
Yes. The annulus leaves a fairly calm center, so on the UX Pilot canvas you can set a logo or headline over the opening. Use Position X and Position Y to move the ring if your content sits off-center.
How it works
Choose a surface
Start from one of 16 looks such as Copper current, Glacial chrome or Champagne foil, or pick one of 8 sculptures.
Direct the reflections
Adjust fold frequency, surface tension, fine ripples, polish, light direction, reflection contrast, color dispersion and sculptural depth, then drag the artwork to place it.
Color and use it
Set the background, first, second and light colors, press Play for a light sweep or a slow flow, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
