Shutter Reveal: black slats opening onto a backlit amber sphere
Shutter Reveal draws a line screen of black horizontal slats on cream and bends it around a sphere with a Lens distortion field. Each slat thickens where the imagined ball lies in shadow and thins where light falls, and with Backlight at 70 the sphere is filled exactly with amber Light color, so the thinning slats open like blinds onto a warm glow. On Flow the light circles once every 6 seconds and the opening travels around the ball.
Make it yours
Size the glow
Backlight sets how much of the lens fills with amber. At 70 it matches the sphere exactly; drop it to 40 for a smaller core of light inside the slats, or raise it to 100 so the amber spills past the rim.
Choose another light
Light color is the amber behind the slats. Swap it for cyan or pink to change the mood, or match it to the Background to switch the glow off and leave a plain shaded line engraving.
FAQ
How does a line screen show shading without any gray?
Like an engraving, it uses one ink and varies only the thickness of each line. Thick lines cover more of the ground and read as shadow, while thin ones let more cream or amber show through and read as light, so tone comes from line width alone.
How it works
Choose a starting point
Start from one of 16 looks such as Riley Current, Cobalt Tunnel or Moiré Twins, or pick one of 8 pattern geometries, from Halftone and Checkerboard to Moiré and Weave.
Bend the pattern
Pick a Mark shape and a Distortion field such as Lens, Pinch, Fold or Twist, set Pattern density, Mark weight, Spatial depth, Wave distortion and Color separation, then drag the artwork to position it.
Loop it and use it
Press Play to run a seamless Flow, Breathe or Counterflow loop, set the two inks, Light color and Backlight, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
