Persimmon Ripple: dot rings that pulse out from the center
Persimmon Ripple arranges near-black dots in concentric rings on a persimmon orange ground. Dot size rises and falls along the radius in a slow wave, so bands of heavy dots alternate with bands of tiny ones like rings spreading across water. A gentle Lens at Spatial depth 20 enlarges the middle, and on Flow the wave travels outward once every 6 seconds.
Make it yours
Tighten the ripple
Wave distortion sets the wavelength of the size wave. At 0 a crest comes about every ten rings; raise it toward 85 and the crests crowd in every three or four rings, for a busier, quicker pulse.
Draw rings instead of dots
Mark shape is Round, so each ring is a chain of dots. Switch it to Line and the dots merge into solid ring bands that thicken and thin with the same wave, or try Square for a pixelated ripple.
FAQ
What makes the rings in Persimmon Ripple look like they move outward?
The dots stay where they are. Only their sizes change, following a wave that shifts outward a little every frame, and the eye tracks the bands of large dots as if they were travelling, the way a stadium wave seems to run along rows of seated fans.
How it works
Choose a starting point
Start from one of 16 looks such as Riley Current, Cobalt Tunnel or Moiré Twins, or pick one of 8 pattern geometries, from Halftone and Checkerboard to Moiré and Weave.
Bend the pattern
Pick a Mark shape and a Distortion field such as Lens, Pinch, Fold or Twist, set Pattern density, Mark weight, Spatial depth, Wave distortion and Color separation, then drag the artwork to position it.
Loop it and use it
Press Play to run a seamless Flow, Breathe or Counterflow loop, set the two inks, Light color and Backlight, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
