Halftone links: interlocked rings in a fine newsprint halftone
Halftone links tightens the default dot screen for a more editorial finish. Cell size drops to 6 and Contrast climbs to 135, so the two interlocked rings of the links shape are drawn with small, densely packed dots and firmer shadows. A dark navy Ink on a slightly yellowed paper tone for Light color pushes it toward old newspaper and textbook printing.
Make it yours
Check it at real size
A Cell size of 6 is near the fine end of the scale and can blur into grey on low-density screens. Preview at the size you will publish, and move Cell size to 8 if the dots stop reading as dots.
Pose the rings
Rotate X and Rotate Y are both 25 here. Since the form keeps turning at Speed 10, set Speed to 0 first when you want to pick one exact pose for a still illustration.
FAQ
Which settings give a vintage newspaper halftone?
Small dots, strong contrast and off-white paper. This preset uses Cell size 6, Contrast 135, a dark navy Ink and a warm, slightly yellowed Light color. Avoid pure black on pure white, which looks digital; the tinted pair is what sells the printed feel.
