Scattered: a brick mosaic with big bricks pushed off the grid
Scattered breaks the grid on purpose. Chaos is set to 55, which displaces every brick from its slot, and Gap widens to 4 so the backdrop shows through between them. Bricks grow to a Cell size of 30 with studs still on, so the picture becomes a loose spread of chunky pieces that only resolves when you step back: right for posters, campaign art and playful empty states, less so for faithful reproduction.
Make it yours
Find the tipping point
Chaos at 55 is already loose. Around 25 the wall looks hand-placed but still tidy; above 80 the subject starts to dissolve, which can work for abstract backgrounds but not for a face or a logo.
Color the space between bricks
With Gap at 4, the backdrop matters. Change Light color from the default pale lilac grey to a dark tone and the displaced bricks look like they are lying on a shadowed table.
FAQ
Does Scattered still look like LEGO-style bricks?
Yes. The bricks keep their studs, bevels and cast shadows; they are simply knocked out of alignment, like pieces spread across a table. It remains a visual effect for digital designs and does not produce building instructions or a parts list. Not affiliated with the LEGO Group.
How it works
Upload an image
Add a PNG, JPG or WebP up to 20 MB. Portraits, logos and bold illustrations read well as bricks.
Set the bricks
Choose brick size, gap, corner radius and how scattered the layout is, and turn studs on or off with their own size.
Light, color and use it
Adjust bevel, light angle and shadow, limit the colors with posterize, tune saturation and contrast, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
