Fine relief: a detailed, stud-free brick mosaic with shallow bevels
Fine relief turns the brick wall into something closer to a tiled mural. Cell size drops from 24 to 12, which puts four times as many bricks over the same picture, and the studs are switched off so nothing interrupts the image. With Gap at 1 and Bevel at 2, each tile is only lightly embossed, and the photo stays recognizable at a glance.
Make it yours
Deepen the emboss
Bevel is 2, half the default. If the surface looks too flat on a large hero, raise Bevel to 3 and Shadow from 38 to around 50 so the tiles catch the light again without bringing the studs back.
Move the light source
Light Angle is 315. Rotate it to 135 to swap which edges are lit and which are shaded, useful when the mosaic sits beside text and the highlights should face the content.
FAQ
How do I keep more detail when converting a photo to bricks?
Use smaller bricks and fewer surface features. Fine relief does both: Cell size 12 doubles the resolution in each direction, and turning Stud count off removes the circles that would otherwise sit on every tile. Keeping Posterize at 16 or higher also preserves gradual tones in skin and sky.
How it works
Upload an image
Add a PNG, JPG or WebP up to 20 MB. Portraits, logos and bold illustrations read well as bricks.
Set the bricks
Choose brick size, gap, corner radius and how scattered the layout is, and turn studs on or off with their own size.
Light, color and use it
Adjust bevel, light angle and shadow, limit the colors with posterize, tune saturation and contrast, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
