Y2K Pearl: a conch shell with a soft pink, gold and blue sheen
Y2K Pearl coats a spiky conch shell in pearl-white metal (#F4F2EF) on an off-white ground, then adds Iridescence at 40 so a thin film tints the surface pink, gold and pale blue as it turns. A big diffuse skylight and Roughness 22 keep the reflections milky rather than mirror sharp, which is where the turn-of-the-millennium cosmetics feel comes from. The shell is shown large, at Size 122, and lies on its side so its spines fan across the frame.
Make it yours
Turn up the pearl
Iridescence at 40 gives a gentle sheen. Push it toward 70 and the film thickens into stronger bands of color across the whorls; lower Roughness at the same time if you want those bands crisp instead of misty.
Keep the palette pale
Gel light (#C9CED8) tints the two soft side panels a pale blue-grey, close in value to the off-white Backdrop, so nothing competes with the film. A saturated Backdrop would make the pastel sheen look muddy.
FAQ
What does the Iridescence control do?
It adds a thin transparent film over the metal, like the coating on a pearl or a soap bubble. Light bouncing off both sides of the film interferes, so colors shift with the viewing angle and the film's thickness. At 0 it is off; at 100 it becomes a full oil-slick rainbow.
How it works
Choose a form
Pick one of 10 built-in shapes, try a sample model such as the Marble bust, Lion head or Conch shell, or import a GLB, OBJ or STL model up to 20 MB.
Light the studio
Choose a Lighting rig such as Studio softboxes, Strip lights, Color gels or Horizon '84, set the Floor to Contact shadow, Glossy floor or Floating, and pick the Backdrop, Metal and Gel light colors.
