Liquid Stripes: a black-chrome duck wrapped in wavy stripes
Liquid Stripes is the classic striped liquid-metal look, rebuilt with studio light: the Stripe ring rig circles a rubber duck with 9 light panels of unequal width, alternating white and steel blue (#7F93B2). Liquid distortion at 48, the strongest of all 14 presets, bends those stripes into wavy, melting bands as the surface flows. The chrome stays mostly dark between them, so the duck reads as black glass on a graphite ground.
Make it yours
Change the stripe count
Light panels sets how many stripes wrap around the object. Try 5 for bold, graphic bands or 16 for fine pinstripes; the widths keep stepping between wide, medium and thin so neighbors never match.
Calm the waves
At 48, Liquid distortion makes the stripes ripple strongly. For a more product-like finish, bring it to 15 and Flow speed down from 18 to 8, which keeps the stripes nearly straight with a gentle drift.
FAQ
Which preset gives the classic striped liquid chrome look?
This one. With Lighting rig on Stripe ring, every reflection becomes a ring of stripes, every second one tinted by Gel light. Add strong Liquid distortion and they bend into the melting bands people associate with liquid chrome.
