Arc study: an SVG shape made of concentric open arcs
Arc study is the look Minimal Shapes Lab opens with: 28 concentric arcs in near-black ink on warm off-white paper, each leaving a gap on the same side. The gap drifts slightly from ring to ring, so the opening gets a stepped, hand-cut edge instead of a clean wedge. It reads as a calm, slightly technical mark for covers, brand heroes and signup backgrounds.
Make it yours
Widen or close the aperture
Curvature is 42, which leaves roughly a quarter of each ring open. Drop it toward 5 for almost complete circles with a narrow notch, or push it to 100 so under half of each ring remains, a good base for a loading or progress motif.
Aim the opening with Rotation
Rotation starts at -25, which turns the gap to the right and slightly upward. Around 80 it faces down and around 170 it faces left. Then shift Horizontal position from 50 to 35 so the arcs sit beside a headline instead of under it.
FAQ
Is Arc study the default look in Minimal Shapes Lab?
Yes. The tool loads with the Arc Study system, 28 elements, Complexity 5, Curvature 42, Open space 20 and a Weight of 2, in the ink and paper colors. Every other preset switches System and adjusts those same controls, so Arc study is a useful baseline for learning what each slider does.
How it works
Choose a system
Pick one of 24 geometric systems, from Ray crown and Iris fold to Latitude cage and Twist tower.
Shape the geometry
Set density, detail, bend, openness, weight, scale, rotation and offset, and change the variation for a new arrangement.
Color, frame and use it
Set paper, primary, secondary and accent colors, choose landscape, square or portrait, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
