Topographic: teal contour lines with an outlined blob on paper
Thin contour rings in a single deep teal roll across a pale mint background, with Weight at 40 and Randomness at 55 so the elevation lines wander like a real survey map. Instead of a filled hero, a nine-point blob drawn as an Outline echoes the contours at a larger scale. Paper texture at 40 opacity, Roughness 60 and a warm brown-grey Tint make the whole thing feel like a printed chart.
Make it yours
Add a second elevation color
The contours use a single teal because Color Mode is on One color. On Two colors, the leaf green already stored in Secondary foreground alternates with the teal ring by ring, which helps when high and low ground should read differently.
Fill the blob like a lake
The blob is drawn with Fill on Outline and a Stroke width of 3. Change Fill to Both for a solid shape that keeps its outline, then reduce Size from 0.7 to around 0.4 so it sits inside the contours like a lake on the map.
FAQ
Where does a topographic pattern work best?
Anywhere a product touches place, terrain or exploration: outdoor and travel apps, mapping tools, climate dashboards, or section breaks in a report. This version uses one muted teal on mint with fine lines, so it stays quiet enough for hero areas that carry a lot of text. With a free UX Pilot account you can export it as SVG, which keeps the contours sharp at any size.
How it works
Build the pattern
Pick a motif and a square, brick or hex layout, then set scale, spacing, weight, rotation, two pattern colors and a background.
Add a shape and a texture
Place one of 8 shapes with a solid, outline or gradient fill, then layer one of 9 textures with a blend mode and opacity.
Frame and use it
Choose a ratio from 1:1 to 9:16, preview it in hero, card and mobile layouts, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
