Night sky: scattered star specks and four-point sparkles on navy
The same Stipple motif that makes Terrazzo becomes a star field here, because the settings go the other way: Shape scale drops to 10, Spacing opens to 260 and the specks turn white with the occasional pale yellow on a deep navy. Six four-point stars with a pinched Inner radius of 30 add the bright sparkles, one larger and five small ones strewn at random. Grain at 30 opacity in Screen blend gives the sky a faint haze.
Make it yours
Make the sparkles thinner
Inner radius at 30 already pinches each star into a sparkle. Take it to 15 with Soft at 0 for needle-sharp glints, or raise Points from 4 to 8 to turn them into compass-rose stars.
Dim the star field
At 80, the pattern's Opacity already holds the specks back a little. Lower it to 40 for a sky that stays in the background of a login or pricing page, and set Copies to 1 if a single hero star is enough.
FAQ
How is Night sky different from the Terrazzo preset?
Both use the Stipple motif at 100 Randomness, but Terrazzo draws large earthy chips in three tones on sand with soft blobs, while Night sky shrinks the specks, spreads them out, limits them to white and pale yellow and places them on navy with pointed stars. It shows how far Shape scale, Spacing and color alone can move one motif.
How it works
Build the pattern
Pick a motif and a square, brick or hex layout, then set scale, spacing, weight, rotation, two pattern colors and a background.
Add a shape and a texture
Place one of 8 shapes with a solid, outline or gradient fill, then layer one of 9 textures with a blend mode and opacity.
Frame and use it
Choose a ratio from 1:1 to 9:16, preview it in hero, card and mobile layouts, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
