Memphis: zigzag stripes, a teal squiggle and riso ink on cream
This preset borrows from 1980s Memphis design. Heavy zigzags at Weight 70 alternate between midnight purple and hot pink across a warm cream ground, tilted to 168 degrees with Randomness at 0 so the rhythm stays strict. Over them runs a fat teal squiggle with five waves and a Stroke width of 6, while a Riso texture at 55 opacity adds the slightly slipped ink of a cheap, cheerful print.
Make it yours
Loosen the squiggle
On a squiggle, Points sets the number of waves (5 here) and Distance, at 60, sets their height. Drop Points to 3 for one lazy curve behind a headline, or push Distance toward 90 for taller, louder waves.
Exaggerate the misprint
The Riso texture shifts a tinted copy of the artwork by the Offset value, which is 6. Take Offset to 12 for an obviously misregistered poster, or down to 2 when the pattern has to sit behind small interface text.
FAQ
What makes a pattern look Memphis style?
Clashing flat colors, hard geometric repeats and one loose, hand-drawn gesture on top. Here that means a two-color zigzag in purple and pink, a teal squiggle tilted by -10 degrees and a cream background instead of white. Keep Randomness at 0 so the stripes stay rigid, and let the squiggle be the only irregular element in the frame.
How it works
Build the pattern
Pick a motif and a square, brick or hex layout, then set scale, spacing, weight, rotation, two pattern colors and a background.
Add a shape and a texture
Place one of 8 shapes with a solid, outline or gradient fill, then layer one of 9 textures with a blend mode and opacity.
Frame and use it
Choose a ratio from 1:1 to 9:16, preview it in hero, card and mobile layouts, then sign in with a free UX Pilot account to use it on the canvas or export it.
