Bricks: a photo built from studded toy bricks seen from above
Bricks turns every cell into a small toy brick viewed from the top: a solid plate in the photo's color, rounded to eight levels per channel, with a round stud that casts a short shadow and catches a highlight on its upper left. The bricks are dodged into the blurred photo, so bright regions flare almost to white while saturated colors stay vivid, like a brick build lit from behind. It reads at a glance on thumbnails, social posts and playful hero images, as the split pomegranate in the preview shows.
Make it yours
Drop the darkest bricks
Lower Coverage to 70 and bricks in the darkest 30 percent of the picture are left out, so the subject stands as a brick build in front of a soft, out-of-focus photo.
Build with bigger bricks
Raise Cell size to 20 for fewer, larger bricks, closer to a model you could assemble by hand. The studs scale with the cells, so the toy feel grows stronger as the resolution goes down.
FAQ
Why do the bricks glow instead of looking like flat plastic?
Their Blend is Auto, which for brick tiles means Color dodge: each brick brightens the blurred photo beneath it rather than covering it. That gives the lit, slightly overexposed look of the preview. Choose Normal for opaque plastic bricks, or Overlay for a darker, punchier build.
